Can recommend good online Japanese mmos/mmorpgs video games to immerse yourself in?

I am just wondering if theres are japanese mmo that put you in an environment that requires you to immerse yourself and do everything including talking to other peeps, and do stuff in japanese in order for you to progress in the game. I think this would help me greatly in improving. If some people are already doing this, feel free to recommend the game you are playing here. Thx!

  1. Not that it requires you to talk to other people…at least not initially, but I immersed myself into FFXIV for a bit…and i went into the game not really knowing anything about it…so I had to learn all the systems and things for the first time and in japanese…Im also one of those ppl that actually read stuff in an mmo (well, main quests at least)…so it was a lot of immersion…albeit I was mostly a solo player as I didn’t max any class out…so there wasn’t much of a need to talk to ppl…and I was also in a North American server so all the ui and text was in Japanese but people spoke English…these days I haven’t had much chance to play it as mmos take a while…but just thought I should mention it as I did enjoy it

  2. There’s [Toram Online](https://toram.jp/) that’s one of those games that give you a whole lot of bottlenecks encouraging you to either grind or cooperate through. You’ll probably need to change device language settings and/or use VPN to be able to make a character on Japanese server tho.

If you decide to try out Toram, there’s also its predecessor [Iruna Online](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asobimo.iruna_gc) which is about 15 years old and probably barely populated anymore especially newbie areas, but is still actively maintained by the devs. There’s a lot of references to Iruna from Toram so I think it’s worth trying out both.

  3. FFXIV would be a decent choice for that. It’s got an extensive free trial up to level 60 which however restricts some of the social features such as joining a guild (called FC in-game) and you can’t message other people unless they message you first. So you might want to think about getting a subscribing, if you like the game.

Also one thing to note is that, while people on NA and EU Datacenters are having lively conversations in the public chats, the people on the JP Datacenters don’t really like talking in public that much. So if your intent is to talk to people, then you should definitely join an FC or a Linkshell. Just as a side note there’s this website that can help with some of the in-game terms and slang in Japanese: [https://www.akhmorning.com/resources/ffxiv-en-jp-dictionary/#introduction](https://www.akhmorning.com/resources/ffxiv-en-jp-dictionary/#introduction)

If that’s not your cup of tea, Blue Protocol might be an option. It’s not released yet but I know they are having a closed beta in JP very soon.

  4. Not an mmo, but nier automata has Japanese text and dialogue you can switch from English. It’s also a really cool game.

  5. It’s a gacha game with some MMO aspects and it’s not for everyone but I recommend Princess Connect! Re: Dive that you can install using QooApp, JP version.

The game has so much voiced content that I’d even say it’s too much, I can’t even watch all of it, it’s too much. It has large Japanese youtube channels.

I also recommend Genshin Impact. You can quickly switch languages in Genshin which is very helpful. Genshin Impact is an extremely good game, but it’s monetized by Satan, so be careful.
