Cheaper Moving Companies that disassemble and reassemble furniture

I will be moving from an apartment within Tokyo’s 23 wards to a bigger apartment in May and will need help to assemble and disassemble some furniture. Mainly a bedframe and a couple desks. What are my options in this regard?

Other than this, I could probably do the move myself, but I am by no means a handy with tools.
Is there a moving company or specialized company that would be able to handle this?

  1. Most moving companies will help disassembling large furniture and re-assembling on site on request. Of course they will charge you accordingly but you can always compare the prices and try to bargain with them. If money is a factor I would rather do it myself and rent a kei truck, or simply buy a new set.

  2. Most moving companies do this. Always get a few quotes and push the 3rd or 4th company for discounts by making it clear you’re speaking to others. I used to leave the other companies’ sales materials out so they could see them. Most are competitive and want to close the deal – work it. You can save a bit by moving during the week, too.
