Question about host families

Hey everybody,

I’ve been doing some research on host families and they sound like a great Way to be introduced to the culture and unique aspects of daily life. I’m strongly considering looking into a home stay programme. However, my only concern is that I may be too old? I’m 21, and I was just wondering if there an age cut off for the homestay programs?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you.

  1. They’re might be homestay programs for college-aged people as well. Never hurts to look.

  2. Pre-covid my town hosted homestays. Generally it was a college student but one time is was a lady in her 50s or 60s. I don’t think they’d started the program back up again though. But there’s certainly a precedent for programs without age caps

  3. I’m doing a home stay for my language school in June & I’m 30. For me it was a tough choice since I like the privacy a hotel would give me & I can afford it, but I decided I wanted to immerse fully to get the most out of my 3 week language school.
