Should I be storing the letters/notifications from the pension office or can I get rid of them?

I tried Googling and searching on Reddit, but good advice isn’t popping up, which is why I’ll ask here. They keep sending me monthly updates and notifications. Apparently they took me off of the student exemption status, but I’m getting that situated. Anyway, I wanted to know if I can just throw these envelopes and papers they keep sending me away, because I don’t have much space to store them. Thanks in advance!

  1. I was in your situation before, forgot to notify pension office I’m still a student- I think we’re required to report our student status once a year- so they sent me like a fat stack of payment request (the thing with the barcode you bring to konbini to pay, I think it was 1 year’s worth, totaling around 19万 or so) twice.

What I did was apply for the exemption and wait until the small postcard that says “we have accepted your student exemption status and it is good from 20xx/xx until 20xx/xx” comes, then I discarded all the other stuff. Never throw away the card that shows your exemption period.

  2. Scan them just in case. And read them. What do they say?

Most of us do not get monthly letters from them, so if you need to do something, please do it.
