Itinerary Check: 6 nights in the end of September (Tokyo only)

This is my first time traveling to Japan (Early 20s male with my dad late 50s). I am into anime, sight seeing, food, video games and overall just experiencing what the country has to offer.

Let me know what you think of my itinerary, any and all suggestions/advice will be appreciated!! Also apologies if I spelt anything wrong but I tried my best! 🙂

Day 1: Arrive at Haneda mid day. Take a train to the hotel in Shibuya to check in. Get situated, grab some food and just walk around the city.

Day 2: visit the meji shrine and garden. Takeshita Dori shops and eat at Ichiran for one of our meals

Day 3:
-Akihabara
-Akasuka
-Senso Ji Temple
-Kando Jinja
-Nakamise Shopping
-the sky tree

Day 4: day trip to Mt. Fuji. If anyone has experience with purchasing a guided tour I would love to hear how you did it.

Day 5: explore shinjuku.
-Gyoen National garden
-Hanazono Shrine
-omoide Yokocho
-Golden Gai

Day 6:
-Tokyo tower
-tsukiji Fish market
-Pokémon center

Day 7: leaving this day at 5pm. I don’t have anything planned for the morning

I am hoping to get some suggestions on activities my dad might like. Is there anything I am missing that is a must do? Thanks!

Day 1 go to tourist information Centre, ( I don’t remember if Shibuya has one so I’ll just recommend Tokyo station). Ask them about tours to Mt Fuji. Do this on your first day because they could be booked out for the day you want.

  2. Day 6 – if you have been to the skytree what are you looking for in tokyo tower? If you want to see tokyo from above, shibuya sky is another better alternative. Also pokemon center, there are many of these. Skytree already has a small one but if you want to go to the largest one, go to the mega pokemon center in sunshine city. Or if you want to sit down in a pokemon cafe then go to the one in nihonbashi. But that will not take half a day.

If you are into anime and if you are into super robots have u considered to checkout the yokohama gundam factory and the 1:1 moving gundam? It is not a must but I think it deserves a visit for anyone who likes these stuff.

  3. IMO, skip touristy Ichiran and just pop into whatever ramen shop you come across. No reason to wait in those lines with all the fabulous possibilities out there

E: we got a guided Fuji/Hakone tour through Viator that was fantastic. Left from Shinjuku area on bus, returned on Shinkansen.

  4. If you’re really into anime and video games, I’m not sure if you’ll be able to spend as much time as youll like in Akihabara on day 3. Maybe you’ll do a second trip there before you fly out on day 7.

Day 6 – tsukiji market before Tokyo tower. It’s best to go first thing in the morning.
