Experiences with music lessons in Japan?

Hi all,

Am currently considering moving to Japan (probably near Tokyo) for work and was wondering if anyone could share experience getting music lessons for an instrument over there. I’m interested to know if it’s hard to find a teacher, is learning in Japanese hard, what are the average rates etc.

I started playing guitar about half a year ago and would like to keep learning while I’m there. I’d prefer to have a teacher as I tend to slack off when self studying. Ideally the lessons would be in English as I want to concentrate on learning guitar during lessons, although I am conversational enough in Japanese to do lessons if needed.

Thanks for any help 🙂
