IBS Medication

Can anyone here recommend some over the counter IBS medication in Japan?

  1. My wife has IBS. She’s said the over the counter stuff doesn’t work, and the prescribed stuff is cheap. So just go to a internal medicine clinic.

  2. Go to the doctor and get a prescription for something. It will likely be cheaper to see a doctor and get the prescription than whatever you get over the counter.

  3. A lot of Japanese people recommend Ebios for digestive problems. It’s an over the counter remedy made from a Japanese version of brewer’s yeast by Asahi. I’ve taken it a few times when my stomach has been unsettled and it has worked for me but I don’t actually have IBS. You can find it at just about any drug store and it’s pretty cheap.

  4. When I just had the “nervous stomach,” I’d take Seirogan. Disgusting, but stopped my endless trips to the bathroom right before leaving the house. When it really went out of control last year, however, only prescription medication could save me. So, just go to the gastroenterologist…
