12 Days – Tokyo/Kyoto/Onsen – HELP

Hi — thanks in advance for reading. I’m spending 12 days in Japan in mid/late April. It’s my first time and I have so many places I’d like to visit but need help whittling down my itinerary and figuring out what is feasible. Some details: 34M, traveling solo, want the adrenaline rush but also trying to fit in some relaxation time with 1-2 nights at onsen ryokan. Does the below seem feasible in terms of travel times? Any suggestions for where to spend those open days? Am I doing it all wrong by not spending more time in Kyoto/Osaka vs. Takayama or Kanazawa?

**APRIL 17**
Arrive Tokyo – open

**April 18**
Tokyo – Meiji Jingu, Harajuku, Omotesando, Shibuya

**April 19**

  1. That’s the classic golden route, which is always a good option. Fitting all your that into only 12 days is a bit tight.

  2. I’m in Tokyo now and I think your days here are really well distributed! Tsukiji is a morning thing and golden gai a night thing so unless there’s a ton you want to see in Ginza you might find yourself with some spare time that day. Which is it a bad thing as I’ve been relying on a 2 hour nap each afternoon in order to keep going – the jet lag is no joke!

Would you mind sharing the Hakone onsen you are visiting?
