I’m moving to study in Japan very soon, and I’m trying hard to figure out how does the Tokyo transportation system works.
Apparently, buying a Pasmo/Suica card is pretty much a basic, and they’re both very similar.
But there’s also the student commuter pass that will be pretty much essential for my daily life that I will need to get. But it seems like it’s a different card? Or can it be “combined” with a Pasmo/Suica card? If yes, is it a simple operation that will be easy to go through once I’ll get there, and is there any difference in doing this operation between a Pasmo or a Suica card?
I don’t know if my question is clear enough, but it’s just a whole lot of brand-new information I have to adapt to quickly, and I’m trying to figure all out.

Pasmo is run by Tokyo metro, suica us run by JR East.
Student commuter is a discount rate that both companies offer.
The card you get will depend on which company operates the train(s) you intend to ride between your residence and your school.
