I’m writing a story and I wanted to use some Japanglish but then I realised I don’t know when certain phrases came into popular usage. Therefore, I am wondering if anyone knows any Japanglish that was popular in the 1980s. If anyone knows any, that would be amazingly lovely and many thanks in advance.

Hmm… I’m pretty sure that “Christmas cake” was still used a lot back in the 80s (as in a woman who’s over 26 is an old maid/on the shelf like Christmas cake on the 26th is past its prime).
Similar to English, slang terms come in and out of fashion quite quickly so most of the things that were popular in the 80s are “dead slang” these days.
Alternatively: Nihonglish.
