Question for any home owners with a veranda or other outdoor space with FRP coating on the floor.

Have you ever had furniture, storage boxes, or other heavy stuff set out on it? Did that cause any damage? I have a veranda coated with FRP which is soft enough that it yields slightly to a firm touch, and I wonder if it might tear or whatever.

Cheers.

  1. My roof balcony lining does deform a bit, but I’m not sure it’s FRP specifically. That said, I have raised tiles that cover the entire space, so there’s no real chance of tearing from something moving on top of it. The feet of the tiles do leave a bit of a dent when I pull them up to clean underneath. Also, without the tiles the space would be basically useless in the summer as it heats up to insane temperatures in the direct sun.

The previous owners had nothing on it, and it didn’t look too damaged, but we had it recoated after we moved in just for peace of mind.

  2. Our veranda has a coating. I never paid attention to it so I went upstairs and took a look. My husband has converted most of the veranda into a greenhouse, so it’s loaded with plant shelves and a transparent canopy supported by a metal frame. The surface looks pretty good, I didn’t see any scuff marks but it’s possible the coating is depressed under the legs of the shelves and the metal frame.
