Itinerary Check: 5 Days in Tokyo

Hi r/JapanTravel,

Relatively last minute trip being planned to Japan next month. I’ve just started and was looking for your guidance and a sense-check on what I’ve come up with so far for the first leg of the trip, Tokyo.

**Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo**

* Land in NRT around 5:30 pm
* Check in to either Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo (about 500m west of station) or Oakwood Premier Tokyo (right next to Tokyo Station). `I’d love your thoughts on this.`
* Eat and drink in Shinjuku:
* Kabukicho
* Golden Gai

**Day 2: Shibuya**

* Explore Shibuya and Harajuku
* Meiji Jinju Shrine
* Miyashita Park
* Sky Shibuya

**Day 3: Shinjuku**

* Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. `Or, better to skip this and do East Gardens of the Imperial Palace?`
* Shopping at Isetan Shinjuku, Tokyo Hands, etc
* Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. `Or, better to skip this and only do Shibuya Sky?`

**Day 4: Asakusa and Ginza area:**

* Start early at Senso-ji and Nakamise Dori
* Tsukiji Outer Market
* Art Aquarium Museum
* Teamlabs
* Odaiba District, if we have time
* `Is this too much in one day?`

**Day 5: Free day in Tokyo**

* Giving ourselves a day to roam around freely or go back to somewhere we enjoyed.

**Day 6: Onwards to Kyoto, but looking for an onsen/ryokan on the way.**

* `Any suggestions?`

Thanks in advance!
