where to buy deodorant?

I like using deodorant sticks like old spice. is there anywhere you can buy these cheap in Japan? I always buy deodorant from Amazon or rakuten but is there an alternative?

Edit: thanks for all your suggestion and post suggestion! I’ll look into them but in the mean time I bought some old spice from Amazon. I know there are some alternatives made by 8×4, Gatsby but I prefer the gel stick type. thank you again!

  1. This seems like a post about shopping, maybe your question is solved by [the wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/wiki/shopping)?

  2. Cheap? No. Amazon and Rakuten are already the alternative to local drug stores and having friends and family from home sending you a care package once a year.

  3. Yea, this is a pain. I used to get mine at a local (not sure if it’s a nation wide chain) Big One or Sun Sea. They used to carry Old Spice and Axe sticks, but recently they have become out of stock. Amazon is my go to now.

  4. iHerb, though on my last purchase they wouldn’t let me purchase more than 1 stick per order. But if I made another order I could have another sent. Bastards. I used to order 6 at a time.

  5. The halal markets around Shin Okubo Station (left side) often have Western men’s sticks for 1000 each.

  6. Soft stone is by far the best deodorant I’ve come across here, but it is pretty pricey: nearly 1000 yen for a small stick.

The best ones I’ve found that are still fairly effective without breaking the bank are the 8×4 roll-ons. Both are widely available in most supermarkets and pharmacies.

  7. I had a stock of my fave deodorant/anti-perspirant that lasted 3 years. Now I’m on Ban for Men. It’s not the same, but it suffices until I visit the old country again. I don’t like the stuff they have on iHerb. I have one particular type that I like, which isn’t sold by them or anywhere else in Japan to my knowledge.

  8. Cheap deodorant here in Japan? I think not. My parents send a couple of boxes a year with food, etc. and they also take the chance to include various deodorant roll-on, the ones I used back at home. Honestly, it’s much better and definitely cheaper than the Gatsby and similar crap being sold here.

  9. Yeah, I always had to pickup a bunch of speedstick when I went to Guam or Hawaii back in the day, but Amazon has it all now.

  10. There are many alternatives. They are however the watery types and not the solid types. Axe and 4×4 has a spray and roll on type as well.

  11. Gel sticks (or “roll-on” as some call it in the UK) are stupidly expensive here. 500 yen or more for one bloody stick. Quid each at poundstretcher!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I buy in bulk (cases) from US Amazon. There are a few sellers who will ship overseas. Shipping will probably cost as much or even more than the base price of the item, but it’s still cheaper than buying them from scalpers here in the long run.

There’s some Amazon voodoo you can do to change your region to “Global” and get more shipping options or something, at least I have vague memories of something like that

  13. Amazon.com.. buy a year’s supply at a time.

In emergency situations try that deo+water thing from sea breeze.
It’s way weird splashing water into your pits but it works.
