I’ve read the rules on the site, but my situation is abit strange. I left japan almost a year ago, but kept my work visa since I was planning on coming back sooner. I ended up staying in the usa due to work. My gf is in Japan and I wanted to go see her before my visa expires as well as get the things I left in Japan. Can I go back to Japan with only a week or so left on my work visa? Are there any foreseeable pitfalls in my plan? As long as I am vaccinated and tested it seems like I should be ok.
tldr: Can I re-enter japan with only a week left on my work visa?

Were you still working for the same company whilst inside/outside of Japan, just out of interest?

you probably will be fine entering the country with your re-entry permit.
but you may face issues if you intend to renew your SOR, since you are not currently working in japan and you didnt report immigration when quitting
