Help! Need some Relationship advice

Hello! Some brief background: I haven’t had a relationship for a long time. I think this is due to me being a total nerd and the fact that I work a lot (sometimes maybe too much) .

I have been dating a Japanese woman in her mid 20s, it’s been going on for more than a year now. In this one year timespan , she cried in front of me total of three times, and according to her it was because of problems with close friends, getting news that a close friend is very sick etc. Honestly, it freaks me out every time but I think I managed to keep my cool (i.e. I got to offer comforting words, stuck with her until she stopped crying and not basically running away).

Anyway is this a sign of a person having depression related disorders and I should start encouraging her
to get medical help ? Btw I like her very much, it’s at Dai Suki level so I really don’t know what to do at this point 🙁 .

  1. She sounds like a normal human being.

Running away from someone you are dating when they are upset would not be super normal behaviour…

  2. Only 3 times in more than a year and with a valid reason. What’s your problem? Humans aren’t robots.

Hahaha omg this made me laugh.

  4. Does she know you’re dating?

She sounds normal, but I’d say you might need help, and there is no shame in that.

Your problem could be not working a lot or giant nerd, sometimes these things are the symptoms. Getting diagnosis might help you control the symptoms. On the other hand if you don’t have any relevant or major disorder then no harm done from getting diagnosed.

  5. You don’t have to get medical help, what you have is probably a mild case of Asperger’s syndrome.

  6. I was always worried it was something I did that made her sad/triggered her to cry. But after asking her recently about this , she replied back といると安心するから涙が出るんだと思います . Now, I feel relieved whew.

  7. “I haven’t been in a relationship in a long time

I’ve been dating this woman for a year”

    wait what?

My gf cries all the goddamn time. She cries when watching scary movies. It’s more or less normal

  8. On a positive, it’s great that you asked for advice – it shows you care. Continue that care by being empathetic, communicative, and supportive of your partner.
