Hi,
I am currently using an old S10plus that I bought from my au provider four years ago.
However, as it’s getting old and slow, I have been thinking to purchase a dual sim free mobile phone, since I am also using a second work phone (with Line Mobile) and it would be convenient to just carry one phone with two numbers instead (private and work together).
The new Samsung S23 Ultra seems quite impressive and the reviews say that you can insert two sim cards which would be perfect in my case. I have found it online and thinking to pre-order it.
However, I do worry whether I could use my current au card on it or there is a chance that it would be blocked? Not really sure if it’s a valid concern, but I have heard of people having compatibility issues in Japan with smartphones purchased overseas… Any thoughts?

Not sure if it applies to your AU sim card, but I had no issues getting the Galaxy S9 that imported from Korea to work on my OCN mobile/Docomo sim card.
I can’t speak for the S23U, but I’ve got a “European” Fold 4 with dual SIM and been using that just fine. May depend on your contract though
I’m thinking of getting this phone too. I imported a SEA S8 in 2017 and it’s been working fine here.
Search for other threads and you’ll see your problem will be with mobile payments
It’ll work, but a device without FeliCa is a bit of a bummer here.
Shouldn’t be any issues. You can take a look at the compatibility on the expansys website
