Itinerary check 9 Days in Japan, mainly Tokyo area

Greetings all, this is my first time going to Japan. I will arrive at 30 March 2023 morning and stay in a hotel near Kinshicho Station. Departing on 7 April in the evening.

One afternoon I am probably heading to Chiba area to accompany a friend.

Here is the itinerary I have so far.

Day 1: Morning arrival, explore Haneda airport for a bit. Take a train to Kinshicho area, drop off luggage, and head to the nearby shopping mall and Kinshin park

After checking in, during the mid-afternoon, head to Asakusa to visit Senso-ji temple and walk around the area. Evening, head to Tokyo Skytree, and from there head to a pub or walk back to Kinshicho and explore the surroundings.

Day 2: Undecided about morning to afternoon plans “I will probably accompany my friend after 1.30pm to Chiba”, my plan for the morning is to head to Shinjuku Gyoen national garden. I heard cherry blossoms is currently blooming in Tokyo already so.. I guess I may not see them then. I may try to head to a park that has cherry blossoms… by any chance is there a live tracker on which parks has cherry blossom currently?

During the afternoon, I will take a train to Chiba. At Chiba visit the nearby beach etc, not sure what other attractions are there.

After dinner, take a train to Shibuya to see the crossing and maybe visit the HUB in Shibuya.

Day 3: Taking a day trip tour to Mount Fuiji and returning via bullet train to Tokyo station. Afterward, I am unsure what to do for the evening. I plan to eat at tokyo ramen street and do some shopping around. After 8pm however.. no idea.

Day 4: On day, I am unsure whether I will have enough time. Early morning head to ueno park / Shrine and go to the Zoo. Afterwards visit the national museum and museum of science and nature. Since Zoo and Museums closes at 5pm. I am unsure I could visit all of them. After 5pm, explore Ameyoko. At night, maybe walk around Taito City.

Day 5: I will head to the Imperial palace in the morning, and afterward head to Ginza area. Hopefully reaching teamlabs for the afternoon. My evening plans to is go to Odaiba to see the Gundam statue and rainbow bridge.

Day 6: Disney Sea. Late night plans, unknown.

Day 7: Head to Meiji Jingu shrine in Shibuya in the morning, explore Shibuya, Harajuku. Walk towards Shinjuku and take a look at Kabuchiko at night.

Day 8: Akibahara, I am unsure whether a whole day will be spent there. Otherwise evening plans are undecided.

Day 9: checking out and head to the airport in the afternoon.

So far, I have some cities in mind to visit. What activities to do is still up in the air. What are your thoughts on the itinerary? Is it too ambitious on Day 4 and Day 7?

As I heard shops close after 8 pm, my friend and I may visit some bars in Shibuya, Shinjuku area. Are there any foreigner-friendly bars you would recommend? The Hub seems to be a popular area.

Also, as for shops and attractions in certain cities. Please recommend what we should definitely check out.

  1. Your day 3 will be rushed. Be warned also I just went to mt Fuji and there are a ton of tourist now. So the trains get booked fast. We had to return to Tokyo via bus.

So I recommend get there and buy your return tickets asap.

As for Akihabara if you’re a huge anime fan and gaming fan you could spend an entire day there as there are a ton of shops. But if you’re like me and not hardcore then a few hours will do.

You don’t necessarily need to go two days to shibuya, you can walk Harajuku area in 1 day.

Also Golden gai is a 10 min taxi ride.

The day you want to see the Gundam youre going from one side then all the way to the other side of Tokyo.

I would plan your area visit by time.
