Using に with motion verbs

Hello

I just found these in my textbook, I am pretty sure we already discussed in class but I completely forgot how it is applied correctly in the case of motion verbs.

Which one of these two sentences is correct? They both translate to “Ana will return to the train station” but with different markers.

1. ANASAN WA EKI **NI** MODORIMASU.
2. ANASAN WA EKI **E** MODORIMASU.

The book says “NI”, but why shouldn’t it be “E” ?

    Because に indicates a destination

    Very simple explanation:

    に focus on the destination

へ focus on the path to the destination
