Best way to get from Ginzan Onsen to Takaragawa Onsen? (or vice-versa)

Per title, google maps has no available routes and google itself has no search results.
Other than going back to Tokyo hub area for train changes, are there any more direct ways?

Thanks heaps

  1. No, there are no more direct ways.

Going back to the Tokyo area, and out with Shinkansen is the fastest.

  2. There are route via Shinjo, Amarume, and Niigata. But you are going to have to do 4 transfer, one of them is on local train, and it will be slower than taking Shinkansen back via Omiya.

  3. Both are kind of deep in the countryside, so do not expect much transport between both area as bus are usually connecting bigger centers. Even if there is options, I would expect that you have to take several bus and it would hardly save time as it would take as much time to do it by car than by train. So I do not see how bus could be faster even if there was a direct one.

So you have to look at the train map. Indeed, the main option is to go down to Tokyo, at Omiya station, then to the next onsen.

The other option would be, from Ginzan onsen, instead of going toward Yamagata to catch the shinkansen, go west to eventually reach Niigata. For this, you take less shinkansen, and possibly total time similar or a bit longer.

One option is always to take more than one day to do it, so it depend if you want to see something between both. It would take much more time and be somehow a detour, but for example you can stop by Aizu-Wakamatsu, then the idea would be to take several days between both onsen, and if you are a fan of onsen, there is other between these two, there is onsen in Aizu Wakamatsu for example.
