Anpanman

Hello,

This is may be a silly question, but where do those with small children in their life access the anpanman tv series/movies from? For those who do, of course. It doesn’t show up on Netflix and all the ones I see on Amazon Prime are for rent or purchase. Do people just buy them or stream from YouTube or something? I don’t do a lot of streaming so maybe there’s a Japan-exclusive one I missed? Or maybe do the DVD from Tsutaya thing?

Edit: thank you everyone! It looks like YouTube and recording from the TV are probably my best bet if I don’t want to pay for something new (Hulu, DVDs, etc.). I appreciate all your help and hope your Monday goes smoothly.

  1. It’s on TV as other reply said, there are also tons of random (unofficial or whatnot) clips on youtube, etc.

It’s officially on Hulu streaming service if you want to pay for it, but I don’t think hulu content itself is worth enough to pay for just for Anpanman.

  2. It airs on TV and the movies go to theaters. The same is true for all of the other kid shows.

  3. If you get a device for recording off the tv you can set it up to record it every morning and before long you’ll have a bunch saved that your kid can watch anytime

  4. My daughter loves anpanman but she’s not into the actual animations. She just plays with the dolls at nursery and watches those YouTube videos of kids playing with toys.

  5. Always recorded onto a USB hdd.

Anyone else find it unsettling that sometimes Anpanman rips a piece of his head off and feeds it to others?

  6. You might look into Japanese streaming services like FOD (Fuji on Demand), TVer, Abema, U-NEXT, etc., and see if any of them have it.

  7. Our in laws buy the DVDs. We only let our kids watch english-language anpanman movies so we had to sail the high seas for those.

  8. YouTube, or, given how short the episodes are, you can buy a few DVDs for pretty cheap.

  9. If you have docomo, you can watch it on dtv. You can stream a decent chunk of episodes and all of the anpanman movies for 400 yen per month.

Another option is to rent DVDs from your local GEO or other video rental store.

  10. U-NEXT,dTV,Hulu,SPOOX,TSUTAYA,DISCAS

All of them are free for the first month, so you can watch as much as you want for half a year.

  11. Amazon Prime with the Anime Times channel (500 JPY per month). My younger one is crazy into Anpanman these days so it’s worth it.
