Hi everyone,
I hope this is allowed. BF and I will be visiting and staying in Osaka for 2 weeks for vacation. We were probably going to treat Kyoto and Nara as day trips, but for the most part, we are going to take it easy and not go off the walls with trying to see everything in a typical itinerary.
So I thought being able to bike around would be a great alternative besides trains and walking to take in the sites of the city.
Specifically, I wanted to bike on Konohana bridge after a trip to the Osaka Aquarium but can’t find anything saying it’s open for cycling.
I’ve been having trouble trying to find resources for biking advice and tips for Osaka specifically. Is it alright to bike around this area as tourists, or is it too busy with people/cars to be considered safe?
Ive only been able to find HELLO CYCLING as a good app that allows hourly rentals near our AirBnB. Docomo will not let me register with my US phone number 🙁
Its more or less a thought, but anybody have any tips or recommendations?

Plenty of places to rent bike. Just search it on your maps.
Riding bikes is fun and a fast way to get around, however, you can not just park bikes wherever you like so keep that in mind.
I rode a bike in Kyoto but In a bike path.
If you rent some, just be careful with both pedestrians and vehicles.
I saw some people biking around Osaka Castle Park (both locals and small tour groups). It’s a very nice park to bike in with wide roads and is mostly closed off to cars. There are some sections near the castle that bikes aren’t allowed in but plenty of areas around the moat.

Yes they don’t want tourists.
I’d say biking is a good idea, unless it’s in the middle of the city. I wouldn’t recommend biking in Japan until you have a good understanding of legal liability for accidents and bicycle liability insurance. You’re one accident away from a bad time.
