Paying an SMBC Prestia credit card early

I’ve got an SMBC account that has a “card card” (visa and iD debit card) and a credit card. On the 25th of the month they create a bill for credit card transactions between 16th of previous month and 15th of that month. Then schedules a payment for 100% of the bill on the 10th of the following month.

All good, I’ve got used to that. My problem today is that I’ve burnt through the limit and can no longer use the card until the 10th. I need to use the card (as it’s a credit card) for certain purchases on line where they don’t accept cash card / debit / iD.

What I would like to do is move some funds to pay off the card now so the card works again. I cannot for the life of me work out how to do it on line (web or via the app) and the bank’s closed today so I can’t ask.

Any ideas or is that just one of those things where it’s against process and not possible?

Thanks

  1. SMBC credit cards should have a “[vpass login](https://www.smbc-card.com/index.jsp)” to access their online portal.

I have a different SMBC card, and am able to put in a request to pay early, and the amount I want to pay. It sends me the account to make the transfer to, and there is usually a reminder that it needs to be paid in a very short time (like within a day)… I think it’s because they calculate any interest accrued up to that point, but if that early payment isn’t received by the requested date, they would continue to use full outstanding balance to calculate interest payable.

With “translate to English” enabled on Google Chrome browser, it’s under “Details/payment – Temporary payment by bank transfer”. Note that access to your credit is not instant, and if I recall, it did take a day or two after the bank transfer before I could use it again.

Alternatively, you could also try to request for a temporary limit increase. (Details/Payment – increase card usage limit – temporary increase). I’ve done so before in the past, and the portal would give an instant response if it is approved, or declined.
