Meeting with 2 native speakers today, how can I make it fun?

Hopefully I can get some responses before I have to leave but of course I am nervous.

**Back story:**

Met a Japanese native speaker at party, she gave number so we can teach eachother. She struggles with English but my Japanese is good enough to speak on a basic level.

She at the last minute decided to also invite her friend(another English learner) so now it’ll be the three of us.

I want to best utilize this situation to improve my conversational skills in Japanese. So I was wondering if there was any **activities** we can do to break the ice and also make learning fun? I don’t mind quickly driving to the store to buy a **board game or certain cards.** Any ideas?

My plan was to just go and talk to the both of them naturally without much planning but i’m now thinking I can make it more fun.

  1. I was just going to recommend playing games. Bring a couple simple things to play together. Have them teach you a card game as well.

    Glhf!

  2. Focus on making it fun and not educational.

If it’s about the town, getting coffee and shopping might be fun. Say what you can. Situations will come up for you all to ask questions and learn.

  3. Buy ingredients for okonomiyaki and an electric skillet for the table.

One of the best ways to hang out around a table with Japanese peeps.

Def ask if they’re interested though before you whip it out.

When I was in college it kind of became a funny thing for our Japanese buddies to come over for drinks and Okonomiyaki.

We ended up getting a Takoyaki pan too and would get creative with tako alternatives since none of us knew how to cook octopus right.

We even got into sushi and gyoza and tomagoyaki and all sorts of stuff you’d find in a gradeschool kids lunch box.
