I would just like to point out Amtrack has an entire wikipage dedicated to the list of accidents many of them deadly, the worst killing 47.
The Shinkansen has zero recorded fatalities or even passenger injuries caused by a train accident.
Over nearly the same 10 year period China 42000 km of high-speed rail. Disappointing.
Reading the article “regulatory hurdles” appears to be a euphemism for “reality.”
