QUESTIONS:
– I am still wondering if I should go for a pocket wi-fi or an eSIM. I would prefer the eSIM (Airalo) but I’ve read that they don’t work correctly in Japan. What would be better for value ? Are there any other options for eSIM that work better? I cannot go for physical SIM since I have an iPhone 14 from the US.
– Based on my itinerary for Tokyo day 1, would you suggest to wait at the airport for the JR Office to open at 8:30am (I arrive at 6:30 am) and get my JR pass there or should I go to the hotel, then Sensoji, and on my way to Meiji Jingu stop at Shibuya Station to get the JR Pass there?
– Am I overstaying in Kyoto? Can I fit some of the places I want to visit in a day so I can be in Tokyo for another full day? Or make another day trip from Kyoto?
– Have any of you bought Giants tickets on the Giants website with QR code entry? Were there any issues?

I’m curious why you wouldn’t just go right to Hiroshima on day 1.
You arrive at 6:30 a.m. That’s way too early to check into a hotel, and hotels in Japan are notorious for not allowing any early check in at all.
I think you should go through passport control, collect your bags, get your JR pass, and get the next train to Hiroshima. Get a little sleep on the train and by the time you arrive it will almost be check in time.
Then add a day to Tokyo on the way back, going back on Day 12. I think that makes more sense than splitting your tokyo time into two visits.
