  1. The onsen owners should get together with the people living on the New England coast who don’t want offshore wind power, and move to Sakurajima. Plenty of onsens and ocean views.

  2. Large-scale geothermal power plants have serious issues with induced seismicity, especially in areas that are already earthquake-prone. That’s what happened in Basel, Switzerland in 2006. That’s the real issue holding geothermal back in Japan – not onsen owners.
