本当 – difference in meaning when modifying another noun with な vs with の?

Jisho says that this is both a “Na-adjective” and that it can also modify another noun with the genitive の as well. I’m still learning the language at the JLPT 5 level, so I’m curious what the differences in meaning would be if one were to use it to modify a noun with one particle vs the other?
