Applying for PR through the points system: how to find my application number for the “Data transfer request form”?

I am currently gathering the documents to apply for PR from a “highly skilled foreign professional” visa.

As proof for the points in the calculation table, there is the option to re-use the previously submitted documents at the time of the visa application. But the form asks for the visa “application number”, which seems to be that code stamped on the postcard they send you when you go get your new Resident Card (something like “A-123”).

I obviously threw that postcard away long ago. Is there any other place where I could find that code? Is it a different code and I am mistaking it? Has anyone submitted that form with that info missing?

  1. This must be some sort of new change to the system compared to when I applied in 2019 or so.

I just submitted points then and points now (I was on HSFP 1). They seemed to not really care too much about that.

  2. The number is printed at least on two documents:

    1. Confirmation letter that immigration received your documents you gen when submitting them.

    2. On postcard which is sent to you with the results of the application.

    3. On the envelope you get with request for additional documents.

Immigration take back all three documents, so if you did not make any photos/scans there is no way for you to know the number of your previous case. Immigration also will not tell you the number for your previous cases, so you will need to submit all your documents once more.
