Been working for 3+ years as a software engineer, with a decent salary, but my degree is not in CS/IT. It is however a full time bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering. Will I be denied if I tried to move before 10 years of experience? Thanks
No, if you can get a company to sponsor you and offer you a job, you’re set.
You can apply to jobs now and see if a company would be willing to sponsor you. You can’t move before finding a sponsor (all entries into Japan need a visa right now). With your background it wouldn’t be too hard finding a job with a description that would fit your expertise, but the pay may not be what you’d expect. (For context an SDE IV or 3 YOE could expect a salary of $155,000+ in most major HUB cities in the US but the closest I’ve been able to find in Japan is around 12 million yen and they asked for 3-5 YOE)
You’ll be fine. I got a software engineer job with an Engineering degree and the visa was not an issue.
You have a degree, which is all you need for a visa. If a company wants to hire you, they can.
The 10 years thing doesn’t apply for you; that’s for people without a degree.
