I’ve done a good amount of research on bringing my cat with me to Japan, but my question is more so once I’m there and settled, are there pet sitting services? I don’t speak any Japanese and would be going with the military and living off base but with wanting to travel on weekends or take trips… Would it be difficult to find an English-speaking pet sitting service? My biggest stress is making sure my cat is taken care of 100% no matter what

In-home pet sitting is pretty uncommon, but it does exist. When I tried to ask Japanese friends if they can check on my pet while I was away, it was a resounding ちょっと… with the reasoning being “it’s a living being, and that’s a big responsibility”.
Usually people take their pets to a pet hotel (often part of a Vet Clinic), but to be honest they can be a bit sterile and grim.
Best thing to do is find a colleague at work who can cat sit for you.
