Options to consider once internet provider campaign benefits have ended?

I have NURO 2GB Plan for the past 3 years. When we signed up there was a campaign where we could avail of discounts for 3 years, that period has now ended and we are left with the regular monthly cost(6,700yen in our case, as we have the Hikari TV option).

I’m curious as to whether it would be wise to shop around for another internet provider to avail of their campaign/benefits for the next couple of years. For instance, in our area, Docomo Hikari currently have a campaign where it would work out more than 50% cheaper in comparison to NURO over the next two years.

Is it worth the hassle to switch? Additionally, is there any way to avail of further benefits from NURO?

  1. If you already have the fiber line from nuro, will Docomo still invoice you construction fee? (And same for nuro if you come back after 2 years?) if not, then there might be some stuff to do indeed.

  2. When I called my provider a while ago to cancel it I was offered some amount of money if I stayed for a few more months. You might want to give that a try.
