[Itinerary help] 10 days in Japan for group of 11 people (1st time in Japan)

Hi all, I will be travelling with a group of friends (age group from 28 – 35) next month.

**SO EXCITED!!!!!!**

We will be purchasing JR pass (7 days). One of the plans of attack is to focus shopping at the later part of the itinerary so we do not have much item to carry around at the train station. Cutting short on the introduction, please review and feedback on our itinerary whether it is too pack or anything to watch out for.

  2. Your two Shibuya days could almost be done in the same day. Revise those days and find another area to explore/visit.

  3. The Hachiko statue is basically next to the scramble crossing. You could do both at the same time. I don’t know if there’s a benefit to doing the statue in the morning, but I can think of the line of tourists getting photos with it possibly being shorter.

  4. A fee things to note:

    – in general, resturants will not have room for that many guests. You will need to go to separate resturants, or look to book private rooms in advance. Even private rooms tend to cap out at about 8 or sometimes 10. Plan ahead for your food!

    – I’m in Osaka at the moment and a big surprise I have had is that most food places seem to shut at 8pm, even at Dotonbori! We started to queue up for the famous Mizuno but they ran out of food by 7pm. We are going to try again soon for lunch and see how it goes.

    – USJ. If you are going to do Super Mario Land (which you definitely should, its the best part of the park and we were in it for about 6 hours), look at the opening times of the park on they day you want to go, arrive at the park 1 hour before the opening time. (Example would be the park opened St 8am for us so we got there at 6:50am) The park will open early and when it does, book it to Super Mario Land. If you get there before the official opening time, you can get in without a timed entry. Your other option is to buy an express pass that has Mario Cart on it (these are about ¥7,000 – ¥10,000 extra ontop of your ticket). Or download the USJ app and the moment you get through the door, try to get a timed entry pass.

If you have any other specific questions, let me know.
