On the night of August 24, a police officer opened fire on a man who was on a rampage with a knife in Izumi City, Osaka Prefecture, killing him.
Three people, believed to have been injured by the man, were taken to the hospital.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on the 24th, a man reported to the police that he received a phone call from his mother saying that her son was going to kill her.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with a knife in the premises of a housing complex. A 52-year-old man, who was believed to have been injured by the man, was taken to the hospital with serious neck injuries, while a 26-year-old man and a woman, believed to be the man’s mother, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The man then locked himself inside the house, and when police unlocked the door, he attacked them brandishing a knife.
The man was later confirmed dead, and police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

I have read this twice now… so while not the best result, it seems they killed the “right” person, correct?
