Does anyone have any tips on applying for jobs with a Japanese spouse? Specifically when asked if you have ‘permission’ to work in Japan, technically you do not though getting permission via your spouse is quite simple, no?
I wonder if anyone has experience applying for a job outside Japan and how you went about that in lieu of an actual legit visa?

Are you actively under a spouse visa? If yes, you have permission. If not, you don’t currently have permission.
I often see that question worded as “Do you need company support to acquire working permission now or in the future” or something similar. I suppose you can answer no in this case.

On a Spouse visa (as compared to a dependent visa) you *do* have permission.
>in lieu of an actual legit visa?
The spouse visa *is* a legit visa.
Applying for jobs on a Spouse visa is the same as applying for jobs normally. At some point they’re going to ask about whether you need visa sponsorship, at which point you say “No, I have (will have) a spouse visa.”
Just tell them that you’re married to a ninja and she’ll handle all the paperwork for you. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
