This is my first post here, so thanks anyone for reading.
It’s been 9 years since we got our Hitachi Kaze Iron Big Drum washer & dryer. We had soujihonpo come and clean it in hopes of curing it of leaving flakey dark bits on whites and white streaks on darks. It’s been a problem for about a year and the cleaning helped but it’s still happening enough that I’m now convinced we need a new one. So, I’m looking for recs… are there any brands and models you are happy with?
I run a rinse cycle after each dry and I leave the door ajar between uses to keep air flowing. We used the machine’s cleaning function, too. But I guess it’s just time 🤷♀️ If anyone has good tips for avoiding this with our next one, I’m all ears, too. TIA!

Buy the strongest 1L bottle of granulated oxy bleach you can find (avoid all the ones designed for washing machines – they’re weak. Get the industrial grade – check the label for % of active chemical), dump it all in and set the wash cycle to max volume. Turn it off when its filled up and leave it for 2-3 days.
