  1. This isn’t so much a learning question as an execution question but how do I do small tsu on the iphone’s Japanese keyboard?

    Thanks!

  2. I’m having trouble assessing the literal meaning of the following sentence, can anyone tell me if I’m correct?

    このコートにはポケットがない

“what doesn’t exist are pockets regarding this coat”

I know this translation sucks but I’m just trying to make sense of the grammar.
Also, does the に mean “in” as “in this coat”?

  3. Hi short question how would you say: “Can/May I ask you a question about X?”

Would 「Xについて問題を聞けば大丈夫ですか。」come close to say that?

    Thank you.

  4. Im confused about the appending of い at the end of words, for example あかい or あおい, are both the same meaning as あか and あお, is this just a dialect difference?

  5. Would anyone know a thing or two about advertising Japanese words romanized? Originally I used “kasou” (仮想 virtual/virtually) but prefer “kaso” better in the logo.

In my opinion Japanese people don’t care much about romanized spelling correctness unless they have a heavy international background. The audience is expected to be both Japanese but heavily western for indie entertainment.

So, people with advertising background in Japan, do you think omitting the “u” is ok?

  6. Sentence A – けんさんは先週の週末運動したと思います

    Sentence B – 先週の週末けんさんは運動したと思います

Are both sentences correct? A is the answer from the book, while my sentence is B. I’m not sure if I used は in the right place in sentence B.

  7. A small question please about the meaning of さわり in the sentence below; would this mean beginning? ([Defn 4](https://jisho.org/word/%E8%A7%A6%E3%82%8A)?)

    T: その資料とテープの内容どういうものですか?

    G: 資料は専門用語が羅列された研究データ。 それに名簿。 詳しくは見ていない。テープも**さわり**だけしか聞いていない。

    T: 何が録音されていたんですか?

    G: 子供の声だ。

    T: 子供?

    G: あれは薬物を投与されて尋問されたんだろう。

In an earlier episode, G listens to what seems like the beginning of the tape, but abruptly stops because he felt like throwing up.
