John Wick Chapter 4

John Wick Chapter 4 is releasing in September in Japan but it’s released pretty much everywhere else in the world.

What’s up with that ?

I’m quite bummed out but is there a reasonable explanation for this?

  1. It takes a lot of time and effort to translate and get proper voice actors especially for a film this big.

  2. Ah yes. Welcome to Japan. I’m still not sure why movies are released much later than compared to even other Asian counties. Might have something to do with profits and marketing but that’s just my guess.

  3. it just depends on the movie … no connection to the kind of movie .. some are released about the same time ( Shazam) and some take forever..
recently the action Christmas movie ‘Violent Night’ was released in February (idiotic)

you can download it and watch it earlier

  4. Man, that’s pretty bad for a major movie. Thank god I’m going back to Canada next month. I’ll watch it while I’m there.

  5. At least it’s not a year after international release like the original John Wick or Everything Everywhere All at Once.

  6. Literally every single movie releases later in Japan than in other countries, did you just notice that? Lol. There are only extremely RARE exceptions to that rule that release the same date here as elsewhere.

  7. Yup, it sucks.

I remember it took Deadpool a year to come out in Japan after the rest of the world.

  8. I often watch movies on iTunes now. Very easy with an US account. Movies are cheaper and you can watch from the comfort of your home. John Wick for example will be available much earlier than in cinema here.

  9. Dear God… They actually made another, the first was entertaining, but now it’s just ridiculous

  10. It’s their loss. I’ll save money by buying the movie when it’s released on iTunes US in July.

  11. I heard it has to do with Japan’s very strong domestic movie market. International releases have to plan around the annual Doraemon and Kimetsu no Yaiba movies, etc.
