2-week itinerary check Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto & Day Trips

Hello! Looking for any advice/recommendations for my 2-week itinerary

A few things worth noting, I tend to be a very \~fast\~ traveller. From past trips, I tend to be able to see a lot in a day. I’m also pretty good with jet lag, I like to stay up the first day until a reasonable bedtime.

That being said if it looks like I’ve over-packed a day I’m happy to hear some constructive criticism.

I am still iffy on the day 13 day-trip – as much as I’d love to see another city, I don’t want to miss out on Tokyo, so it will truly be a last minute/morning of decision. There are a couple of museums in Tokyo id like to squeeze in so ill have to see how im feeling the morning of.

Thanks!

**Tokyo – staying in Ginza**

**Day 1**

Arrive at HND at 2 pm – pick up 14 day JR pass and pocket wifi

Try to get a table at “Sushi no Midori Ginza” – heard they do a number system so either get a number and go rest or hang out in Ginza.

If I’m not tired/it is not late after dinner – Akihabara at night

**Day 2**

Asakusa

Sensoji

Kappabashi Dougu Street, Hoppy Street, Nakamise-dori Street

Tokyo Skytree – likely won’t go up, just go see it

Walk around Pontocho

**Day 8**

Early morning to goto Gion district

Walk around Higashiyama Ward and visit temples in the area

  1. I think this is a pretty chill itinerary that leaves quite a bit of time for exploration. You’ll have time to stop into places that you stumble on that look interesting.

One thing though, did you mean Akasaka? Or did you mean Asakusa on the Sensoji day? Akasaka is imperial palace area, Asakusa is Sensoji area.

    Other than that looks good!

  2. I don’t know if Haneda is as bad as Narita, but I would highly recommend NOT picking up the Japan Rail pass at the airport. We were in a line there for nearly 2 hours. The line will be shorter at any of the big stations in Tokyo. One of my big regrets was waiting in that hellish JR airport line. Also buy a SUICA, best thing ever. So handy in every city!

  3. Sushi no Midori in Ginza has online dinner reservations for 5 PM or 7 PM if you’re concerned about a long wait. But idk when your trip is, so I would to check to see if it’s available!
