I was rushed to the hospital and given painkillers. They seem significantly weaker than American meds as I still feel pain. I even asked for stronger pain meds and they said yes. They even emphasized that it would make me nauseous. I still feel a great deal of pain on my pain meds. I struggle to do everything and my friends have been getting me food and helping me with other basic things. In America I would be given enough pain meds to function on my own.

Loxonin is my go-to over the counter pain med. Generally one pill dosage is the recommendation for Japanese but my Dr told me to double it as I am a little larger. Two of those pills and I feel very little pain for hours.

In America they’d be busy addicting you to synthetic opioids. Not the healthcare system I’d use as my yardstick. Although you wouldn’t be in pain.

Though if what you usually take contains synthetic opioids, that would be almost impossible to get in Japan.
I found Bufferin for my headache. It’s very helpful.
What pain medication are they giving you?
I get normal UK dosages of painkillers from my foreign doctor here in Japan, so you will be able to get them as well.
500mg per tablet of paracetamol/acetaminophen, for example. Take two at a time, just like back home.
