Hi All,
Say I was planning on leaving Japan and had already informed immigration that I had quit my job. I will get the special re-entry permit at the airport and keep my residence card just in case I need to come back. How exactly will I know when immigration decides to change something about my residence status if I am not in Japan anymore?

Assuming your residence permit is based on having a job, and you have left both the job and Japan, I imagine immigration will let you know exactly how valid that residence card is next time you re-enter Japan.
