I’ve been searching for Japanese subtitle files (.srt or .ass). They are pretty rough to find, I haven’t found nothing near good. All the good subs are in English. In any other case I would like to have a Japanese vocabulary list for certain movies (like for Anki cards), but they seem too hard to find too.

You can use Subadub ([https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/subadub/jamiekdimmhnnemaaimmdahnahfmfdfk](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/subadub/jamiekdimmhnnemaaimmdahnahfmfdfk)) to download .srts from Netflix.

if there are no official Japanese subs or fan subs I think using openai whisper to get a transcription is a good idea it might not be perfect but does a good job if you have no other options.
For vocabulary lists look into [https://jpdb.io/](https://jpdb.io/) although they don’t have nearly as many movies as anime. You can also make your own vocabulary lists easily by just pasting the a whole text file and it compiles the words for you.
If you have a Netflix account, that would be easy, almost all Japanese shows / animes on Netflix come with subtitles, all you need is a script for your browser, like this one: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/26654-netflix-subtitle-downloader
