Where can I find simple, beginner sentences to create an Anki deck?

The very beginning of any language is tough. You know zero words and yet you encounter sentences like “*Many experts say dreams exist to help solve problems in our lives*”.

It is rather cumbersome to make a card with 10 new words at once. For that reason, it is best to start with small sentences, like “He’s old”, “The sky is blue”, “I like milk” and the like. This way we learn 1-2 words per card, which makes it all much lighter on the brain.

After accumulaating enough vocabulary we slowly and naturally are able to increase the sentence’s length.

My question is, do you know of any place I can go to get such sentences?

Thank you.

  1. is there anything wrong with the preamde decks made specifically for beginners?

  2. I mined out the Genki books for this

I’m sure you can mine out something like Tae Kim’s or anything you want, Japanese Ammo

  3. Look for reading resources aimed at absolute beginners. There’s an N5 link list on dokushoclub.com
