Struggling with japanese and novel recommendations

Hello everyone, I’m studying japanese for about six years now and I’m currently in the second chapter of Genki I, I need to review the grammar of the first chapter though.

I know almost all of the hirakana symbols and I don’t plan of tackling kanji soon cause I heard japanese can be written without using them.

Any novel recommendations for my level?

*Can* be, yes. But isn’t usually. So if you don’t learn any kanji, you will be restricted either to very-young-children’s books and 1990s video game. Learn at least a few kanji, they’re fun! Then once you know a few, it’ll be a little easier to learn more, and so on.

Also, your thank-you should be spelled ありがとうございます.

I know one must think the posts here are all written in good faith, but in this case I can not. This is a bit too extreme to be true, and obviously a joke.

But for anyone here (not OP) that would be interested in finding novels according to their level, I recommend checking [Natively](https://learnnatively.com/resources/search/?min=30&max=39). There are a lot of native books valued by difficulty.

Your level is at most -1, so no novel recommendations.

Six years to cover Genki I, chapter 1?! It’s hard to take this seriously. Did you do it 6 years ago and then give up for the next 6 years and are now starting again?

Anyway, just in case you are serious, you need to learn hiragana and katakana ASAP (should only take one to two weeks). Then you can start to move onto basic grammar and vocab (learning words that use kanji as well). Here’s some [guidance and resources](https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/s5mtva/comment/ht1lo0x/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that might help you. Good luck.
