“Guarantor form” for a biological child of a Japanese national

Hello all,

I don’t know if this has happened to some of you, but I can’t find an answer to my case.

I’ve a question about the visa for a biological child of a Japanese national. I have seen that for the COE application the Guarantor form is required but my father (who is japanese) live in France. Is it accepted if another person in my family fills out the document? (I have my uncle who is Japanese and lives in Japan).

Thanks for reading

  1. Hello, I am helping my mother with the same process. Yes, it can be your uncle as long as he lives in Japan and is included within the family koseki.

“A letter of guarantee (English version  OR Japanese version ) from the applicant’s spouse, parents, father/mother-in-law or closest Japanese relative (next of kin) residing in Japan.”

    Good luck!

  2. Like someone else said, use your uncle for guarantor and list your father as supporting members (tells immigration you have monetary support).

Also, you are not applying for COE but just the visa. Child/grandchild of a JP National does not require it. Source: I have the visa.
