How do I reserve unagi at a konbini?

It seems like all the konbinis are advertising unagi, and I like unagi, so I want to buy some. I’m not good enough at Japanese to understand the steps (at any chain), though. Does anyone have experience reserving and acquiring it?

Thanks!

  1. man remember back in the old days when you didn’t know how to say something, so you looked it up, then went out and had an adventure?

Alternatively, you could just get the attention of the staff behind the counter, point at the sign and say “unAHHgi? unAHHgi?”. Eventually you’ll get what you want.

  2. July 23 this year is “doyo-ushinohi”, the traditional day to eat unagi. I bet you have an unagi restaurant nearby where you can get better unagi than a konbini.

  3. Dunno what you talking about, but I have a rule that could work for you: unagi only at unagi restaurants. Its better to have 1 unagi a year at a restaurant than 10 at shop or 100 at sukiya/konbini.
