  1. There’s a very large Brazilian population there working in the factories. I assume kids with parents from Brazil will be the bulk of the foreign students

  2. I have seen schools that deal with second language speakers really well and others that were just horrible. Really depended on the school and more importantly how quality the cabal of veteran teachers were at the school. JHS is really the hardest. Even native English speakers don’t have enough Japanese to pass the English class. Elementary school most kids will adapt though it is a tough slog. High school there are enough different types a kid can find a place they can shine or at least scoot by.
