I went sailing today on Lake Toya in Hokkaido

1. Spring is very early this year in Hokkaido so I took my Skerry sailboat out of storage and went for a chilly but beautiful sail on Lake Toya this afternoon.

2. I love Toya-ko.

3. Get your ass over to Lake Hill Farm and get some of that wicked gelato! Whenever I’m in the neighborhood I always stop in. So damn good.

4. Is this considered a junk rig? I’ve never seen a small sailing boat with this sail configuration.

5. I’ve been horseback riding around that lake, it’s very pleasant. Really just a nice little town in general.

6. Thought I was on /r/sailing 🙂

   Are there any small boats for rent on lakes/the coast in Japan? We’re going next month and would love to get a little day sail in!
