I want to improve my Japanese. I’m in between a N3 and N2 level but mess up a lot when actually speaking. I’m bad at self study and want to know if there’s an eikaiwa equivalent for Japanese? I’m not trying to pass the JLPT or use it for work, I just want to improve my overall speaking and listening ability. One on one lessons for just conversation? I’ve heard about Japatalk and Italki but wondering if anyone has in person school recommendations in Tokyo.

I do a weekly online lesson, 100% in Japanese. On Italki.com, you can find teachers of different qualities as low as ¥1000 an hour. I’d suggest three hours study a week minimum to get your level up.
I was working in a Japanese workplace for years, and that got my fluency way up, now my lesson is helping maintain it and become more conscious of ways of speaking. I don’t think an hour a week only makes a huge difference in improvement
Bunch of affordable(500-1000yen per class) conversation classes are held in Minato-ku, especially around Tamachi station. Here is a [pdf](http://minato-intl-assn.gr.jp/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Japanese-Classes-2019.pdf) with some info, it’s from 2019, but not much has changed since.
Also there is a new conversation class opening next week near Atago, Instagram: @hanamizuki1001
If you’re looking to improve your conversational skills and you’re at least N3 level then the best way is to make friends and speak with people. Maybe try going to a sports club, or a gym, or even just to bars?
Hokkaido JaLS or Kyoto JaLS are pretty good. Lessons are according to your skill level and there’s a lot of conversation practice included.
