Going back to the doctor for follow-up questions

Hi,

Yesterday I went to the doctor at a big hospital and got an explanation that left me a bit confused about a disease I have. After going back home I came up with the follow up questions I would’ve wanted to ask but didn’t come to mind back then. Would it be weird to go back just to ask said follow-up questions? I kind of feel that it makes sense to get the information I need and in my home country it’s quite a normal thing to do, even on the phone, but I’m not sure if here it would be seen as rude or as wasting the doctor’s time.

Edit: Thank you for all the answers. My wife called to make an appointment but can’t make one unless you are referenced by another clinic or by some other doctor in the hospital. They told us we can go without an appointment, but we’ll have to wait. So we’ll go early tomorrow morning and hopefully it won’t be too bad 🙂

  1. You can go back. You can also call on the phone, and they might answer on the phone/call back with a message, depending on how simple the answers are

  2. Big hospitals often have an appointment office, call or visit there to set up another appointment.

  3. Simply put, your health is more important than if it is considered odd or an inconvenience.

I would give them a follow-up call to arrange another appointment or see if they can answer the questions on the phone.

    I hope you’re okay.

  4. If you’re already set up for another consultation, I’d wait until then. Else just make a new appointment and have a list with your questions ready, so you’re not getting side-tracked.

  5. The thing is, i think even if it is a follow up question only if u have appointment they u have to pay so at the end it is mot convinience but they will earn more for just very simply question and answer thing so it is a win for them i think
