How do I improve my motivation to get comprehensible input?

I lived in Japan a couple months ago for an extended period of time, and my Japanese was pretty good at that point. Now I’m in the US and I am not getting a whole lot of comprehensive input obviously. Whenever I try to watch things I zone out and then I switch to things in English. And it’s starting to get frustrating. How do I improve that? Same thing with the reading I’ve been putting off volumes of jjk to read

  1. Well, what sort of stuff do you enjoy reading/watching? And do you feel like the kind of stuff you want to read is appropriate for your level? Challenging yourself is good, but if the material is too challenging it becomes tedious to engage with it. From your post it’s not really clear why you “lack motivation”. Maybe it’s not even related to your motivation, maybe it’s something else.

  2. For ADHD, some things may work well at one time or another and not consistently.

Perhaps using a stim toy might help, or making a game of it.
